How to Choose –iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus?

iPhone6-iPhone6plusiPhone6-34FR-SpGry_iPhone6plus-34FL-SpGry_Homescreen-PRINTAre you in a quandary about whether to order an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 plus? As you may have learned, the new iPhone 6 will be available for pre-order on Friday September 12th (for delivery September 19).  If you are chomping at the bit to buy one, but aren’t sure which one you want, I found some great resources online.  The issue is that the iPhone 6 comes in two sizes,  the standard is a 4.7 inch screen and the the iPhone 6 Plus is a 5.5 inch screen.

But what does that mean?  Sure, I’d like a bigger screen, but will it fit in my purse? Will it be like talking to a mini iPad?  (not that big)… None of the videos really gave me an idea.  But a couple of great websites can give you a real feel for how big is the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus.

The first is a comparison of the iPhones with the earlier iPhone 5 and iPhone 4.  It also includes the sizes of LG’s G3 phone and Samsung’s Galaxy s5.  Phone Arena’s iPhone size comparison allows you to calibrate your monitor to match the size of a phone or credit card.  I was able to trace the size of the phones on a piece of paper and put them in a pants pocket.

My iPhone 5 fits in the pocket completely. The iPhone 6 is on the left, and the iPhone 6 plus is on the right and definitely would not be comfortable in a pocket.

If you don’t want to draw your own iPhones like I did, download a PDF of the iPhone 6 Plus from Ars Technica.

The features of the two phones are almost identical with the exception that the larger iPhone 6 plus  can display more.  See Apple’s iPhone 6 details and phone comparison.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m thinking that the iPhone 6 plus may be a little too much phone for me to handle.  What do you think?

By the way, if you haven’t gotten the new U2 Album “Songs of Innocence,”  it’s FREE in the iTunes store to download to your iPhone, iPad or iTunes on your computer. Yes, a real full album for no money!  Just do a search for the album name and it’s yours. But it will only be free until mid-October.
