Learn Photoshop-The Easy, Entertaining Way

Submitted by on February 1, 2011 – 7:40 pmNo Comment

If, like me, you take a lot of photos (and since you are reading this, you probably do), you know that Photoshop is a complicated program with a number of tools that most of us only wish we understood. Face it, while many of use Photoshop, we mostly plod along and really, we suck at Photoshop. Recently I stumbled on the best way I’ve ever seen to learn Photoshop tools.

The “You Suck at Photoshop” videos on “MyDamnChannel” are not only easy to follow, they are absolutely hysterical. Now, granted, they are aimed at the 20 to 30 something males, but it tickled this gal’s funnybone as well. Learning while laughing, what can be better?

The videos show you step-by-step how to add 3D images to a photo, how to work with “curves,” how to create vanishing points and many more useful tools. This is set against the backdrop of the tortured life of Donnie Hoyle who is going through a horrible divorce.  As sad as that situation can be, this is the humorous side of this poor schlemiel who is struggling through this breakup.

Donnie is pretty bitter and as you can tell by the title of the videos and the website itself, it’s all irreverent humor.

Still, if you want to learn Photoshop techniques, you will be able to follow along while laughing.  I’ve been watching them through once to laugh and then again to actually learn.

MyDamnChannel is not only available online, it is one of the channels on DiVX-TV. DiVX-TV is an app found on some network media players and  media streamers. I found it on my LG BD590 networked Blu-ray player. Still, it’s easier to use the lessons when on the computer rather than try to remember them after watching on TV.

I highly encourage anyone who wants to expand their Photoshop techniques to check this out.  Be sure to get the humor in the titles at the beginning of each video. Let me know what you think or if you have any other good sites for Photoshop lessons.
