FILTERING YOUR WALL IN THE NEW FACEBOOK: (I'll make this a post, thanks!) Things happen so fast on Facebook. That was actually the LAST change they made. If you want to hide a certain APPLICATION or TYPE of posting --like to NOT see Farmville or Mafia Wars--you can hover your mouse to the right of that post and you will see a "HIDE" button. When you click on that button it will give you the option to hide that application or to hide that friend's posts. Then you won't be bothered with lots of those "egg buddy" or "mafia wars" or "farmville" (or whatever you don't care about) postings.

If you want to see only certain friend's postings at times...(like just work friends or just close friends), make a Friend list. Go to FRIENDS. You'll see at the top of the list CREATE A LIST. Click on it to create a list, give it a name, and click on the people you want to add to the list. To change what list is associated with a friend (and they can be part of more than one list), Go to that list and click on "EDIT LIST." The people included in that list will be highlighted. Click on other people to add them to the list, click on highlighted people to remove them from the list. Click SAVE.

Then go back to your Wall. You will see the list(s) under Friends on the left. Clicking on it will filter the wall to only show the postings of those friends. (Note: there is also an item to click on to see only status updates).

Hope this helps some!

Many thanks! I'm new to Facebook and am clearly missing something obvious and important. I want to be able to choose and filter which friend's postings appear on my Facebook home page.

When I hit HOME on the left side I have "News Feeds > Messages > Events > Photos > Friends ---- nothing like you have listed here.

I don't know where to place these options from Facebook's Help:
There are three ways you can filter your Wall:

 1. [Your Name] + Friends. This default filter displays your own Wall posts, posts made by your friends, and stories generated by your activity on Facebook.
 2. Just [Your Name]. This filter includes any posts that you have made to your Wall and stories generated by your activity on Facebook.
 3. Just Friends. This filter displays all posts that your friends have made on your Wall.

How can I choose which of my friends postings show up on my home page? MANY MANY THANKS!
